“Above all watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” -Roald Dahl
The painting above is done with fluid acrylics and open mediums. It’s an amazing way to use acrylics. The open medium gives them oil paint like qualities. Even though I’m taking 2 other classes right now all I want to do is paint!
But I have been doing my assignments in my book making class. Here are a couple from the Alisa Golden book class that I’m taking. These are both simple fold books. Golden’s book starts with easy projects which gradually become more difficult. There are 100 possible books to make and this class could take a year. YIKES -

It’s great fun to be digging around in my summer clothes in the middle of January to pack for our little beach trip – flip flops, shorts, beach hat, favorite books, journal, camera, — wine! And Watson is going with us. I can’t wait to see him when he first sees the ocean! Today I am busy watering my plants and filling the bird feeders.
“When you come to the edge of all the light you have and must take a step into the darkness of the unknown, believe that one of two things will happen. Either there will be something solid for you to stand on – or you will be taught how to fly.” -Patrick Overton

enjoy your trip.
don’t forget the wind can kick up out there, so something warm too– just in case. I’ve walked at times with my feet in the warm ocean water while the air around my shoulders was much colder and I in need of warmer clothes.
Thanks! I do have a sweatshirt, socks and long pants packed. Mornings and evenings will probably be cold — but it was really nice to pack my shorts and flip flops . . .
I’m looking forward to long walks on the beach and some warm sunshine!
wow, you’ll be a book making expert by the time you finish alisa golden’s class! you’re really making some sweet books (looking back to your post about the books you made for julie’s class).
have a great trip, judy… you can draw in one of your books while you’re gone!
xoxo
Alisa Golden’s book is pretty fabulous – hope I can make it through to 100! I really enjoy working 3-dimensionally, so there’s a chance . . .
Thanks – can’t wait for the sea!
Hi Judy
Just wanted to thank you for your understanding and support with the loss of Jazz. I am feeling a little better but everything I do reminds me of her so it’s been hard. She was always under my feet, every time I reach for something I know she loved my heart breaks a little bit but I am starting to feel more like myself. Everyone’s kindness really, really has helped a lot. It makes a difference knowing someone else understands. I wanted you to know your sharing mattered a great deal to me. Thank you.
And your work is stunning too. I will have to come back and take some time to cruise your blog.
Hi Susan – thanks for visiting. Losing a pet is just devastating! I still expect to see my Merlin (border collie who passed in September) in all his usual places. One thing that has helped is we got a new puppy – not a replacement by any means, but this puppy energy is helping to fill my heart again.
Wishing you the best – please come visit my blog whenever you have a chance.
I thought you were already gone, but I am sure you are by now.
I love all these books, but the painting is my favorite. Well done!
Have a wonderful trip and be sure to take plenty of photos of Watson!
xoxo
Thanks Annie – headed out today – ahhh warm sunshine and the ocean! I’ll post photos of Watson on my return. Can’t wait til he sees the ocean for the first time!
Books, and books and books. What a great thing to make. Enjoy the beach walking. Nothing is better to clear one’s mind, at least for me.
Hi Leslie! Yes books are a fun project. The beach was fabulous – definitely healing on so many levels!
