“I wondered today if all the things I am making with my two hands, my ten fingers, my one mind are actually making me? As I bring more into existence out of the nothing that lives around me. Are more pieces of me being brought to life at the same time? -Tyler Knott Gregson
These three pieces are now framed and ready to be entered into a juried show. Southern Appalachian Artist Guild holds an annual national juried show that includes 2-D and 3-D works. I used to enter my clay work in shows all the time, but have not entered any of my 2-D work yet. I’m a member of the Southern Appalachian Artist Guild and received the invitation to apply weeks ago. The invitation has sat on my desk tempting me since I received it. It’s hard to send work out into the world, especially if you haven’t done it yet.
I’m nervous about entering. The juror is a plein-air pastel artist. I’m wondering if he likes quirky? The show is open to artists living in the United States. Work needs to have been made within the last two years. The deadline for entering is July 31. Acceptance notification is August 31 and the show mounts in October in Blue Ridge, GA. Blue Ridge is within driving distance of Atlanta, Asheville, Chattanooga and Knoxville. And the show will be held during the fall Apple Festival which draws lots of folks to our mountains. If you want more details about entering, let me know in the comments.
