“One does not stand still looking for a path. One walks; and as one walks, a path comes into being.” Mas Kodani
In my email box this morning from SAAG. Woot-woot!
Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that the following piece(s) have been selected by our juror, Michael Chesley Johnson, for entry in our 2013 SAAG National Juried Show:
Girl in a Yellow Dress
There were a total of 133 two-dimensional pieces and 30 three-dimensional pieces selected from over 400 total entries. The show prizes, totaling $5000, will be awarded during the Opening Reception on October 19 from 5 to 7pm at The Art Center, 420 West Main St., Blue Ridge, GA.
The monetary awards to be presented will be: Best in Show—2D First, Second, and Third Place—3D First, Second, and Third Place. Non-monetary awards include Awards of Merit. All awards given are at the discretion of the judge.
This is the first time I have tried to get my artwork out into the world. I entered shows all the time with my clay work, but have not been ready to expose my 2-D work. I kept telling myself that it was okay if none of the three pieces were accepted. I’m just learning how to paint. It’s a journey – blahblah . . . but secretly felt that I needed this validation from an outside source. My friends and family are all encouraging, but I wanted someone who didn’t know me to connect with what I am trying to say. I’ve gotten quite close to this ‘girl in a yellow dress.’ I hope she does well. This event takes place at the most beautiful time of the year up here (October 19 – November 8), so come to the mountains and enjoy the show. If you click on the (SAAG) link above, you can find out more about the guild and the show.
