New Work

“A life of making isn’t a series of shows or projects or productions or things; it is an everyday practice. It is a practice of questions more than answers, of waiting to find what you need more often than knowing what you need to do. Waiting like listening and meandering, is best when it is an active and not a passive state.” -Ann Hamilton

I don’t post on my blog as often as I used to do. It seems folks don’t have enough time to read a long entry. People today want to quickly hit a like button and move on to the next thing, so most of my new work is posted on FaceBook and Instagram. If you would like to follow me on those platforms the link to those accounts can be found under the tab ‘Follow Me.’ I’d love to see your smiling faces there. I realize not everyone is into social media and still read and comment on blogs, so I try to update here as well.

I mentioned before that I just finished a three month class with Nicholas Wilton. The class was fabulous and it has really inspired me. I learned so much – but the best thing I learned was to be joyful in my studio – to realize creativity is a journey and the paintings are just a by product.

Here’s my latest pieces. I would love to hear your comments and feedback.

The Hare House (12×18)

He Fancied Himself The Village Balladeer (22×16)

It Was HIs First Rodeo (24×24)

Learning To Fly (NFS)

“Creativity is all about seeing what everybody else is seeing and thinking what nobody else is thinking.” -Robin S. Sharma

About Judy Shreve

Blogging for me is like keeping a journal which I have done in various forms since I can remember. But what's great about this format is it offers an opportunity to explore all the things that interest me as an artist with others. Blogging seems to strengthen that sense of being part of both something personal and something universal. It takes the journaling idea and expands it through visitor's comments creating a valuable dialog that connects us to each other no matter where we live. I enjoy responding to each comment and warmly welcome your visits. email: judyshreve at mac dot com

Cool work! I just love the last one; we all need to learn to fly!
I still like to read others’ blogs and write my own, even though I have been off for the last month. FB is fine for updates, but a blog provides in depth thoughts about work,

I love your work Judy. It’s whimsical, and down right funny sometimes. I’d like to live in one of your worlds.

As usual I am loving your wonderful whimsy! I much prefer blogs to FB, but realize not everyone does. But …. seems I never manage to post on either at the moment. I do hope that will change, and more creative energy will head my way.
