I live in Alpharetta, Georgia and am seeking a ceramic studio to learn and create beautiful ceramic pieces. Please contact me if you are available. I work Monday through Friday but would like some place close to home to work with ceramics on the consecutive weekends. My contact information is below.

Hi Mary – I sent you an email with a list of area pottery centers. Hope you find a place to make pots!
Have you ever made a ceramic ginger jar type 3′ tall with child like figures animals and games? I have such a piece and can not find out any info on it. Just came acrossed your work and thought I’d ask.
Thanks
Oh and it is signed with J on the bottom
I would not have made the child like figures or animals & games, but here is someone you might check:

Her name starts with a ‘j’ too
Hope you are able to find the maker.
Hi Judy,
I love the beautiful finish with casein paint on ceramics. Can I use casein on bisque fired at cone 04?
Thanks,
Effie
Effie – I believe you can use casein paint as a cold finish on bisque – but you could not fire it again or use it on something functional – it would not withstand foods and washing and such. You could also use Dorland’s (cold) wax on top of the casein to give it more of a sheen — but still it would not be food safe.
Hi Judy,
I tried using casein on bisque as I would use any paint but it wasn’t applying very well. It was getting sucked up by the bisque and going on unevenly. I wonder if I need to seal the bisque so that it would apply better. Do you seal before you paint?
Thanks again,
Effie
I’ve never used casein on bisque and I use earthenware clay bodies. I have only used acrylics – but I water them down and just continue to add layers until I am satisfied. You could seal the bisque first but you would get a much different look. I’m not sure what you are wanting to accomplish in your finished product so it’s hard to respond specifically.
Hi Judy!
I’m a potter living in Alpharetta and I saw above that you sent a list of local rentable studio spaces to someone…would you mind emailing me the same list? Thanks so much! Love your work:)
Stephanie Crystal
Stephanie,
Here are some links of spots in the Alpharetta area that offer clay classes. I don’t know where anyone rents studio space.

Hi Judy. My son (14 year old)needs some specific guidance. He is autistic (non-verbal) and needs some guidance with making his tiny clay figurines. Know anyone who would be willing to work with him this summer?
Erica – see the list above for folks teaching ceramics in the area. Hope you find someone to work with your son.
